Watch this semi-abstract landscape painting come together through each layer at the border. What began as an abstract watercolor that felt like a “failure” turned into a piece where each painting session became an important part of the composition. Often these “failures” are painted over, forgotten under layers of new paint, but this artwork aims to show a little of each subsequent layer, each attempt at bringing out something new on the paper. Sometimes paintings feel complete in one sitting and sometimes they take a few and change direction with the flow of the art. Those creative pivots, big and small, are what really shine in this piece. The scene was inspired by a peaceful misty summer view along the Scarborough Marsh in southern Maine. Painted with love.
